What do you get for your 3rd anniversary?

March 18, 2013 By: PerkyParkie4 Comments

I was given a copy of the video that was created when I got the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD) at age 32.  Seeing as the is no definitive test to determine if you have PD, you are left with trial and error of various medications.  If the medications work, that most likely means that you have dopamine deficiency, which has been improved by the drugs used.  I knew that it was important that I had this video, if not only to document my life.  I decided to edit and upload the video today, and realized that this video was created March 17th, 2010……..exactly 3 years ago today.

Now I understand that there is a tradition to give certain items on each anniversary, so what is it for a 3rd anniversary?  Leather!  Maybe I could give my Parkinson’s a leather pill box, with a funny card that has an inside joke that only my disease and I would get!  Then again, it might be better to just buy myself a beautiful new leather Coach handbag and be thankful that I have a great life, Parkinson’s or not!

That must have been such an emotional day for you 3 years ago.

As for the gift, you should definitely give yourself a Coach bag. I read somewhere they cure Parkinson’s. 😉

Wow Alison, that is horrible that you have to go through that. You still look beautiful. After reading what you wrote, I was instantly reminded of what a good spirit you always had. You have a very great outlook on things. That is inspiring in itself. I pray that you beat the hell out of your PD and daily functions will be easier. Either way I bet you still keep making people smile!!! “Pueblo Westies For Life!!”

Ha! Oh Pueblo West! I remember our carpool rides up to County for band practice! So early, it was still dark outside! We would try not to hit the bunnies on the dirt roads of Pueblo West…but we didn’t save them all..”Dead Bunny”! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, it means the world to me!

Guinea Pigging Yourself Out

When I was 10 years old and saw a Guinea pig in a pet store. I begged my Mom to buy it for me, but she stood firm with the idea that if I wanted that adorable rodent, I would have to work extra hard and save my allowance. My mom was trying to show […]
