Dear Ms. Parkinson’s

June 22, 2017 By: PerkyParkie5 Comments

I am super-stoked to share with you a new project that I have had the honor to be involved with.  I am now a offical contributor for Health Union’s newly launched website parkinsonsdisease.net. This site has become a great addition to the Parkinson’s community because you can find information about research, diagnosis, treatment, caregiver support, symptoms… basically everything you wanted (or didn’t want) to know about  Parkinson’s, including my latest post “Dear Ms. Parkinson’s”. I hope you check it out!  Enjoy

Dear Ms. Parkinson’s,

You first came into my life on March 17th, 2010. The day that I heard my neurologist say, “You have Parkinson’s disease” was a day that I will always remember. It was a surprise….not a good one, like winning a basket full of puppy dogs… {Click to read more}

    Dear Allison,
    Parkinson’s disease has reared its ugly head in my case. I usually roll over ithen bed bed but three months ago I decided to push up on the bed with all the strength I could muster. That was a terrible idea as it resulted in the worst headache of my life. As a result I the vomited all night. My wife thought that I should go to the ER the next morning and I went reluctantly. After waiting in the ER all day I finally heard that it was a Brain Hemmorage. The doctor said they had to do an angiogram to determine if it was aniourism or brain bleed. I was lucky, if you can call it that, it was a brain bleed. As a result I am in
    a wheelchair for the first time, I have been in Lake Forest Nursing and Rehab Center trying to regain my wallking ability
    Bad Idea Man,
    Tom

    I have been checking in on parkinsonsdisease.net for the last 4 weeks. It’s a terrific website. Great info and stories.

    I have also mentioned it to friends at my Rock Steady Boxing Toronto class. Great job👍

What It Takes To Look Normal

When people first meet me, they usually say something to the extent of, ‘”You have Parkinson’s? …But you look so normal.” This comment always makes me giggle inside a bit, because if they only knew… Muahahaha! What is “normal” anyways and who decides what qualifies as “normal”? I have always tried to blend into my […]
